Eleven Mount Vernon students recently traveled to Bloomington, Indiana for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of performing at the International Thespian Festival. Students performed Lend Me A Tenor for nearly 3,000 people! They also got to attend workshops put on by Broadway professionals (for example, a choreography workshop taught by a dancer that was in Kinky Boots and Hamilton or a musical composition workshop taught by the conductor of Phantom of the Opera). They were able to see five other mainstage shows and a handful of shorter studio productions. The students also got to interact with theatre students from all over the country, sharing knowledge and making friendships. The Mount Vernon theatre production was directed by Tom Stephens and the technical director was Brad Goetz. Mr. Stephens said “It was such an amazing thing to watch our students have this experience. All in all it was a fantastic week!”
Students that participated: Jayce Pendergrass, Lydia Benesh, Luke Stephens, Natalie Thuerauf, Megan Teague, Charlie Krob, Milo Olinger, Tyler Panos, Natalie Clark, Margaret Player, and Cyrus Johnson.
