Wellness Coalition of Rural Linn County

Wellness Coalition of Rural Linn County

Educates and empowers individuals to make better choices to create healthier communities by reducing substance use, improving mental health, and achieving better wellness.  Since its inception in 2006, the group, formed to address concerns of underage drinking, mental health, and risky behavior by students, has undergone name changes and primary focus over the years.  Currently, the group is known as the Wellness Coalition of Rural Linn County and their mission is to reduce alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drug use by youth in rural communities through collaboration, education, and policy change. The Coalition developed a vision statement that Rural Linn County strives to create a safe and healthy environment for youth. The coalition created acting workgroups under the coalition, including an Executive Board.

Our coalition welcomes representation from a variety of sectors: Youth, Parents, Law Enforcement, Schools, Businesses, Media, Youth-Serving Organizations, Religious & Fraternal Organizations, Civic & Volunteer Groups, Healthcare Professionals, State & Local agencies, and any organization or individual wanting to reduce substance abuse among youth.  All are welcome!
